For ‘Ukulele players 8yrs & older who can comfortably play basic chords.
Each group class will be focused on a different topic
(take all 3 or choose which classes you want):
Oct 4th: Songs in Hawaiian – pronunciation & phrasing
Nov 15th: Accompanying Hula – how to play for dancers
Dec 6th: “Jazz” strum – used for Hawaiian swing songs
Bring: ʻUkulele (soprano, concert or tenor), music Stand, Tuner and Pencil
$25 donation per person for ALL 3 classes OR
$10 donation per person per class
Instructor Karen Hāli’imaile Sanico first played ‘ukulele at age 8 growing up in Hawai’i then learned strumming patterns from her Kumu Hula, the late Auntie Linda Pi’ilani Danek. Karen has taught ‘ukulele classes & led groups in performances for 15+ years. She currently performs music professionally with her husband, Richard, as the Hawaiian music group, Leomele, which is Hawaiian for “a song tune.”
