Beginner II – ‘Ukulele Class (From 1/14 to 3/18)

Beginner II – ‘Ukulele Class – (8 Class Sessions)

You will learn how to do the following:

1. Advanced Strums.
2. Advanced Chords.
3. Songs in English.
4. Songs in Hawaiian.
5. Play and sing at the same time.

Required items are:

1. Soprano, Concert, or Tenor ‘ukulele (suggested price range $40-$120 for a budget/beginner ‘ukulele)
2. Clip on tuner
3. 3 ring binder for class materials
4. Pencil with an eraser
5. Music stand

Prerequisites:  either completing Beginner I Class or have ability to use basic chords and strumming.  Admittance to class will be upon instructor’s approval.

8 week session, $80 (new students) or $40 (returning students) suggested donation payable upon registration. All proceeds are for class materials and operating costs. The remainder will be added to the Cupertino Odd Fellows Charitable Donation Fund.

Deadline to register is – Noon – Wednesday, Jan 14, 2026

next session upon the applicants request.

Instructor Bios: George Bobias and Randee Chin

George started his ʻukulele experience while a hula student at Island Spice and was an apprentice with the Kapalakiko Hawaiian Band. While George’s daughter was still in elementary school, he started an after school ʻukulele class for K-5 grade students in 2017 Even thought the classes were suspended during the pandemic, they were restarted the first quarter of 2023 and are still in operation.

Randee’s ʻukulele experience began when she was a hula student at Hālau Nā Wai Ole in Cupertino. While there, she learned to play the ʻukulele and sing Hawaiian music from the legendary Saichi Kawahara. She became a front line performer for the Kapalakiko Hawaiian Band and taught both adults and children ʻukulele along side Saichi Kawahara for over 10 years in the South Bay.

Randee and George worked together at the Central Park Elementary school ʻukulele classes. They wanted to teach this basic beginner ʻukulele class to share their love of music by offering low cost ʻukulele lessons and to help subsidize the Cupertino Odd Fellows charitable donations for those in need.
