For beginning and intermediate ‘Ukulele players 8yrs & older.
Group classes to learn:
Topics TBD include strumming patterns, singing songs in Hawaiian, accompanying hula dancers, song arrangements, key transposition, performance tips
Bring: ʻUkulele (soprano, concert or tenor), music stand, tuner, folder or binder, and pencil
$10 donation per person per class (payable at class)
(free for Cupertino Lodge #70 members – $55 annual membership)
Register at least 3 days before class to reserve a place and receive materials & any schedule changes.
Instructor Karen Hāli’imaile Sanico first played ‘ukulele at age 8 growing up in Hawai’i then learned strumming patterns from her Kumu Hula, the late Auntie Linda Pi’ilani Danek. Karen has taught ‘ukulele classes & led groups in performances for 15+ years. She currently performs music professionally with her husband, Richard, as the Hawaiian music group, Leomele, which is Hawaiian for “a song tune.”
