Whitelisting Incoming Emails

To prevent Cupertino Odd Fellows emails, or other favorite senders like other lodges, your Bank, Insurance Company, Friends, etc, from going to your spam folder, add a filter to your email account. Please see the instructions below for various email platforms.

WHITELISTING your favorite email addresses or domains will prevent them from being delivered in your spam folder.

Note about Marking Emails as SPAM vs Unsubscribing:  When receiving emails you are not interested in, instead of marking them as SPAM in your email reader, use the unsubscribe link that is usually located in the footer of the email.  This will tell the sender you no longer want to receive the email and they are bound by law to comply.  Many times, when you unsubscribe, you could get an option to select which types of emails you would like to receive, so you can filter out the ones you don’t want.  When marking an email as Spam, that damages the reputation of the sender so fewer of their emails will be delivered.  That could affect emails you want to receive, like our lodge emails or other organizational emails you want, if other users mark them as spam instead of simply unsubscribing.

There are two ways to whitelist emails.  First, is to whitelist a specific email address such as events@cupertinooddfellows.org or triplelinks@siliconvalleyoddfellows.org.  The second way is to whitelist the entire domain, i.e. @cupertinooddfellows.org, that will allow any email from cupertinooddfellows.org to arrive in your inbox and not end up in the spam folder.  We send multiple emails out from this domain via the Secretary, Financial Secretary and others, and whitelisting the domain would be easier than individual email addresses.  Note:  not all email platforms support whitelisting domains.  If that is the case with your email system, you’ll want to collect all of the email addresses you want to receive and add them to your whitelist.

Known Odd Fellows Domains to whitelist include:  cupertinooddfellows.org; true52.org; siliconvalleyoddfellows.org; and caioof.org. (other domains will be added to this list as more lodges adopt custom domains)

To whitelist email addresses or domains in a specific email platform, please see the instructions below.  The examples below use the Cupertino Odd Fellows domain and email addresses as examples.  If there is an email platform missing from this list or the instructions are out of date, please send an email to webmaster@cupertinooddfellows.org so the instructions can be updated.

TIP: If the filter created in your email account includes a “contains” or “includes” option in the from email, select that and add the domain name directly (without the @ sign), like cupertinooddfellows.org or siliconvallyeoddfellows.org.  This will insure that any email from that domain, or part of the email address, will land in your inbox.
